Celebrex is now approved for acute pain and dysmenorrhea. Until now, Vioxx was the only COX-2 inhibitor approved for acute pain.

A higher dose of Celebrex is needed for pain than arthritis.

The dose for pain is 400 mg initially...then 200 mg BID prn. This dose works about as well as using Vicodin or other NSAIDs.
