GlaxoSmithKline is now marketing Augmentin ES-600 for treating recurrent or persistent otitis media in children.
Augmentin ES-600 comes as a powder for oral suspension. Each 5 mL contains 600 mg amoxicillin and 42.9 mg clavulanic acid.
It provides TWICE the dose of amoxicillin compared to regular Augmentin...without significantly increasing the dose of clavulanic acid. Too much clavulanic acid increases the risk of diarrhea.
